Vision
Enrich the lives of Austin-area children with the joy and discipline of
high-quality choral singing.
Enrich the Austin music scene - the Live Music Capital of the World - with
the unique sound of a children's choir.
Goals
1. Nurture and develop Austin-area children through their formative
years, using music and performances as the primary vehicles of
motivation and education.
2. Make a cultural contribution to the community by offering a
curriculum of varied repertoire including classical, popular and
ethnic music.
3. Promote the principle of inclusion by recruiting members from
diverse ethnic, economic and social backgrounds.

MEMBERS AT LARGE
Jean Farris Fuller
A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jean began her career as organist/pianist in a small Baptist
church in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of twelve. She is a member of the Creek Muskogee
Tribe of Oklahoma. She received a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Pittsburg State
University 1970 in Pittsburg, Kansas, and a master’s degree in organ performance in 1983 from
The University of Texas.
As a professional musician, Jean has held organist positions in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas.
She came to us at St. Matthew’s after having served St. David’s Episcopal Church for 16 years.
She created and administrated the Caroling at Noon Concert Series during Advent and the
Lenten Sacred Concert series at the church. A well-known organist/keyboardist in the Central
Texas area, she has accompanied the Austin Civic Chorus, Austin Vocal Arts Ensemble under
the direction of Dr. David Stevens and was chapel musician for St. Andrew’s Upper School,
Austin. A member of the American Guild of Organists and The Association of Anglican
Musicians, she has performed with the Austin Symphony Orchestra, The University of Texas
Choral Department, Silent Movie Series at The Paramount Theatre in Austin , The Wimberly
Community Chorus , Lake Travis High School and Vista Ridge High School, Leander. Her first
role in a movie production, Waiting for Guffman, was released in 1997 and of course, she was
the piano player! She also has given numerous solo concerts in England, Wales and Germany
and in the United States including St. Thomas Church Fifth Avenue, New York City, The National
Cathedral, Washington, D.C. and The University of Texas Great Organ Series, Austin.
Jean is a breast cancer survivor who has maintained an active performance schedule, touring
with the St. David’s Parish Choir as soloist and accompanist on their international tours to
Europe and England. Jean is married to CW4 George Fuller, who recently completed a tour of
duty in Iraq with the Texas National Guard as Safety Officer and Apache Helicopter pilot.
Terry Heller
Terry Hobbs Heller, BM, MM, PhD - A life-long Austin-ite, pianist, composer, music educator and
education policy analyst, Dr. Heller has taught or supervised classes, directed, sung and/or
played for choirs at all levels, k-college, in both public and private schools. She is currently the
pianist for St David's Episcopal Church Bethell Sanctuary and Children's Choirs, volunteers as
choir director and pianist for Westminster Manor, and performs as one of the Symphony of Soul
musicians in a variety of venues in central Texas.
Chris McComb
Miguel Mercado
Miguel A. Mercado is a graduate of Texas State Technical Institute and has an Associate’s
Degree in Computer Maintenance. Since 1983, Miguel has been involved in the computer
industry and has held several positions such as Service Bench Technician at CompuAdd,
Phone Technical Support Technician, Novell Network Support Technician, Manufacturing
Sustaining Engineer, Sales Systems Engineer and Global Services Program Management. He
also serves as an active Adult Leader in the Boy Scouts of America – Troop 155, Georgetown,
TX. Miguel lives in Round Rock with his wife, Lyndale and his children, Amber Lee and Austin
Michael.
Board President - Ray Schafer
Ray Schafer founded InQuinox in November 2007, with the expressed purpose of solving the
seemingly intractable problems of data storage today. He has successfully assembled a team
of like-minded individuals comprised of proven innovators, technology futurists, adept
consultants and software developers. Regarded as an authority on data storage, protection and
restoration solutions, he is a frequent speaker at technical seminars and conferences. His
nearly quarter century of information technology and data protection industry experience
combined with ongoing consulting engagements with IT executives and managers has made
him sensitive to the challenges caused by data proliferation and inefficient solutions that CIOs
are facing. Prior to forming InQuinox, Schafer was a Technical Product Manager for NetBackup
covering NetBackup Bare Metal Restore, Snapshot Client, Flexible Disk and OpenStorage
options in NetBackup. He came to Symantec by way of the Veritas acquisition in 2005 and to
Veritas from the TKG acquisition in 2001, where he worked as a consultant, software developer
and lead sales engineer. At TKG, Schafer was one of the inventors of the computer systems
and restoration method now used in the Symantec NetBackup Bare Metal Restore product (US
Patent 6,931,558). Before TKG, he worked as a member of the AIX Base Device Drivers
development team at IBM. Schafer holds a B.A. in Microbiology from the University of Texas at
Austin, and has completed graduate work at UT Austin pursuant to his PhD in Microbiology.
Secretary - Pamela Mitchell Watson
Mrs. Pamela Mitchell Watson, a native Houstonian began her singing debut at the tender age of
five, leading "A Sunbeam for Jesus" with the children's church choir. Pamela gives honor to her
mother, the Late Dr. Lillian Cook Mitchell, "Musician extraordinaire" for her roots in singing.
Mrs. Watson is a lead soloist at the Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church where she attends with
her family. She is a member of the "Chester Baldwin Music That Ministers Choir". Pamela is
employed as the Legislative Administrator at the State Capitol for State Rep. Sylvester Turner.
She enjoys family time with her husband, Dr. Dwight Watson and daughter, Kaela (age 9). Her
role model and mentor is her 95 year old grandmother, Mrs. Vermel Cook. Pamela is Junior
Girl Scout Troop Leader #776 and enjoys being a role model for the girls.


Vice President - Carron Whittaker
Carron Whittaker, a Global Public Service Industry Program Executive at Accenture, is a fifteen
year veteran in working with public service entities. In her career at Accenture, she has focused
her efforts on developing customer-centric solutions, implementing new policies, and
reengineering processes for state and local health and human services agencies. Currently,
Carron is serving as the Global Industry Program Executive for the Accenture Public Services
Industry practice and is also the Testing Center of Excellence lead for the Texas Medicaid and
Healthcare Partnership. Carron holds a BA in Social Welfare from the University of California at
Berkeley, an MPAff from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of
Texas, Austin. Although a native of Altadena, California, she currently resides in Austin, Texas
with her husband and daughter. Carron also serves on the board of Austin Children’s Choir
and sits on the Corporate Advisory Committee for the Long Center for the Performing Arts.
Treasurer - Robin Fagan
Born and raised in Texas Robin graduated UTA with BA in French and Russian. She
subsequently spent time living and teaching English in the Middle East. Currently working as a
tax preparer for a CPA in Taylor (since 2003) Robin is married to a great guy with one great kid
who has been in the Austin Children’s Choir for over 5 years!! Robin loves to travel, she loves
get-togethers with her whole family, live theatre; seeing great old movies on the big screen at
the Paramount, writing, yoga, and singing in the church choir. Her personal philosophy: Life
without the arts is impossible; the human spirit requires and demands artistic endeavor.
